genuine S.T. Dupont Soubreny Maki-E lighter. Artisan applied Maki-E Horse decoration over black Chinese lacquer 'Soubreny' lighter. These lighters were only ever 'made to order'. The customer would prepay and Dupont would manufacture a plain black lacquer lighter which would be sent to Japan where the lighter would be hand-decorated by a master Maki-E craftsman with a special lacquer containing 24 carat gold powder using a traditional technique: layer upon layer of the lacquer is applied with drying and polishing in between each application. Many hours of handwork goes into each piece and the finished article takes an average of 16 weeks to produce. Each Maki-E lighter is unique. The lighter is in very excellent condition. Working well. Serial number 106DY78, measures 46x33x15 millimeteres, weight 100.29 grams. Refuels with blue multi-use Dupont butane gas cartridge. Presented in its black S.T. Dupont case with cards, booklets and warranty. For safety reasons, the lighter will be shipped inside its box together with all its documents unloaded but fitted with a new flint.
